What actually is blogging

I am not blogging from 8-9 years like Harsh but in my few years of span I have been asked a lot of questions regarding blogging. I have answered many of them but still I think that there are many who still need help. A few days back I read a post on the same topic but here I am not going to repeat earlier answered questions here.

Instead in this article, I am going to answer those questions which are often asked but not answered by the bloggers who know blogging because they think that those are easy questions and can be found on Google. But when I had those questions I didn’t know any blogger, who can actually help me and don’t make fun of me or even scam me.

When we come to the world of the blogging or before we come to it. We all think that there are many scams and cons. So, I want to make one thing very clear is that, Yes there are scams. But not all are fraud and many will help you if you can make out the difference.

1) What is Blogging, Actually?

Blogging is not only about writing posts or article. Blogging is about expressing your feelings towards something, exposing content to the people who need it. Not the people who know it.

Blogging is not about opening a website, it is about running the site.

For example:- Suppose you bought a car and keep it as it is, you don’t use it you don’t even maintain it. Then what is the use of buying the car?

2) What to do after installing WordPress?

Now, you have installed WordPress and you don’t know what to do. So, you start watching videos about customizing the site as you think that “If my site looks well people will like it” That is true but partially cause unless you have some nice posts they have nothing to do on your website and also no one will show you what all is necessary cause the results are based on your searches but you yourself don’t know what to search for.

Now, you will start thinking about the first post that you should write.

But in the mess of creating the website and customizing it. you forgot the main reason that you started the blog. And search for the content, but now this search for content becomes a habit and your blogging interest will start to decay slowly. Because you are not writing what is yours you write about what others write on their blog.

3) How to ea 100$ from a blog in a month, instantly?

Now, before you start blogging, people say you can ea 100$ from a blog easily and it is not a big deal in it. But I want to mention something you don’t wanna hear maybe. EARNING a 100$ in a month instantly is a BIG DEAL. Now I am not saying that it is impossible or you can’t do that. You can do that but for that, you need to know a hell lot of things.

  • Only AdSense won’t help
  • Only having a few good posts won’t do any good
  • Sharing articles on social media is not the only way of getting traffic

Now, what is the solution for those problems?

AdSense should be bloggers first preference if you are just starting up.”Other than Adsense there are many” as many of the guys say but did anyone mentioned that other than Adsense i.e CPC ads or ad serving companies, there are other companies offering different types of ads, such as

Now, I can’t explain each and every type of AD as the post will become too long and boring to read. You can check about each of them by searching in the shout me loud blog.

4) How to bring your post in the Google’s Search Result?

5)How to know how many visitors are visiting your website?

Now, If you want me to answer the above two questions or have a newbie question of yours, then you can comment down so that I know that whether you guys are interested or not. For now, do share this newbie guide to blogging with your friends who might like to start a blog.

Tips to Take Better Selfie Videos

Videos content are the most popular form of content in 2016.

Videos are the future, it’s a given because of the ease of taking one and it’s ability to be more expressive than text, audio or images. If you are new to the term Velfie, this is what it is. Velfie = Video+Selfie.

The selfie took the world by storm and was introduced to the dictionary in the year 2014.Having said that, most young people have taken to the craze of properties like Dubsmash and Velfie.

Velfie videos have gained in popularity because of their abilities to make the user look good and share it with their friends. People are appreciated for their quality of their Dubsmash and Velfie videos. A lot of users take special effort in making the Velfie look good. Although the camera quality has considerable Improved and made the life of video creators much easy, there are some tips not known to the general people and we thought we will list those tips down for the other users as well.

The main factors of a Video are the Sound and Visual. So here are some tips that help you take better Velfie Videos. For today’s tips, we take a look at some of the best in the business in Velfie’s and they are the Youtube stars.

Practical tips for Video bloggers to record better selfie videos

Background.

A lot has been said about the Background of videos and some say blogs suggest having a plain background, although that is good advice, it does sometimes give a boring look to your video. We take a look at Youtube superstar Casey Neistat’s video and see that his background is cluttered with a lot of things, but it’s blurred! This gives it a not so boring background but also focuses on Casey.

casey-blur-backgroundvideo

The next case in point is of Superwoman’s Lily Singh. She also has a cluttered background and it isn’t blurred, but the lighting in her videos are pointed at her and throw no light in the background which makes her stand out and make her glow!

Lilly singh Youtuber Selfie video tips

So there is no hard and fast rule when it comes to the background as long as you can make it work. Though. to save yourself from confusion, here is the simple role: Record video selfies with plain background or anything that doesn’t distract the audience from main object of the video, that is you!

Light

One of the first phrases in the Bible is ‘Let there be light’.

This cannot be truer for a Velfie as light plays a major role in having good production value. What kind of light do you need? Again, a lot of blogs just suggest a lot of light, but that isn’t true in a lot of cases.

What if you had to take a Velfie on your camping trip in the night? There cannot be any other light in that case. So for moing shoots, it’s best to have natural light as it’s just the perfect amount of light for the camera which adjusts it’s aperture according to the light that is sent in.

Take a look at Lily Singh’s video with over 10 million views that uses Natural Light.

Natural light - best light

In the dark, when using artificial light, a light with a yellow tinge really gives a look. White unnatural light looks a bit fake compared to that of a yellow. Take this example of yellow light used in a Dubsmash video.

yellowlight-foightvideos

Light on the subject is also super key. When you are taking a video make sure light falls on you that will help with you being the focus on not everything else around you. A sharp light that is focused on your face will enhance your features on the camera and make you look sharper and people will be able to see your features better. If you have low light issue, do check out Chatlight, which is an innovative product for front camera recording.

Movement and Steadiness

Most of the time while taking videos, a movement is involved. But cameras need to adjust to those movements and many a time they do not succeed in this endeavor.

Take an example of panning. A lot of people pan while taking videos to show their viewers the entire scene. This is a small movement for us, but a giant movement for the camera which has to adjust to the rapid changing scene in seconds.

Use Equipment.

Video recording equipment

Equipments are dime a dozen do these to give extra support to our camera work. A steady cam equipment like the one helps you give better grip by holding the larger handle and letting you take control of your phone. You can of course buy high-end gadgets to ensure your videos look steady but to start with even a decent smartphone tripod is enough. In coming days I will share some of the best equipments you can buy for video blogging.

  1. Shooting Without equipment.

If you need to pan and take a steady shot. Make sure you hold the phone with both hands close to your body, and keep your arms steady. Also, your knees should not be locked and you should swivel with your hips.

Here is a good example of that technique. Start at 3:43 for the technique

A lot of movement related techniques come through practice and it can be leat.

Avoid the Portrait Mode & use Landscape mode.

This is a rookie mistake when taking Velfies. Although taking a video selfie in portrait mode is far easier. It is important to use the landscape mode because of the depth and reach and also watching videos on the phone are best through the landscape mode. Look at the two examples below. The first screen grab only takes the middle portion of the screen but the second one is distributed and gives a broader visual which is a better experience.

vertical-video

horizontal-video

Audio quality: Without good audio your video sucks!

Sound is a major component in a Video selfie. You can have a great video, but if the quality of the sound is bad, your video’s experience is lost. Imagine watching a Star Wars movie without any sound.

The best tip for having good audio is, avoid any sort of distracting noise. The biggest culprit is the fan. The fan pushes win towards the phone and muffles your voice while talking. The best is to put the fan off.

Most of us live in cities, so it’s difficult to avoid vehicle noises, and the sounds of other humans speaking and interacting. The best is to plan the timing of your video where the least noise is expected. Taking the video is a closed room is also a solution but make sure it does not echo.

cupping phone - better audio

Another strategy for trying to cut as much as possible video is to try to cover the audio hole with your hand and cup it towards your audio source. I use Rode smartlav+ Mic for Smartphone (iPhone + Android) & it makes the sound pretty crisp. See the below video to see the audio quality in action.

If you need a detailed review of this gadget, let me know & I would show you the difference of audio quality with & without Rode Smartlav+ Mic. For now, you should watch this video for 20 seconds, starting from 51 seconds to see the difference yourself:

Bonus tips to improve the selfie videos:

Blur because of the screen guard

This is a problem that I’ve encountered personally. My Phone’s Android phone’s screen guard happened to cover the front camera, which blurred the Image and made it hazy. When you put on a screen guard, make sure there is a opening for the front camera. This was a bad experience because I had to remove my old screen guard.

Do not zoom in

Zooming in is one of the fastest ways to reduce the production quality of your videos. Zooming technology pixelates your video considerably and makes it grainy. If videos are pixelated at this day and age, then nobody will see your content. With 720p being the standard, avoid pixelating your video with the zoom.

Be generous with your expressions – Use that Face

One thing I’ve noticed with the camera is, it does not capture all the subtle expressions that you can notice in real life. This is true because our eyes have zooming in capabilities and nuances that cannot be got in a camera in the present day.

So when you are taking a selfie video, make sure your expressions are exaggerated slightly, otherwise it comes out looking expressionless. When you smile, smile generously.

Remember, ‘Smile when you are on camera’

I’m still experimenting & leaing to take good videos with Smartphone & DSLR. In coming days, I will keep sharing my leaing & experiences to help you improve your videos too. Do make your first video selfie & share the link with us in comment section below.

Hope these tips have been useful to you to take video selfies as much as we’ve had fun making this article. For now, if you want to share a tip or two, do let us know in the comment section below.

2016 is the year for mobile sites and mobile apps. Earlier, you must have focused on speeding up your website and implementing a responsive design, this year your focus should be optimising your mobile site for speed and performance. In my earlier post I have shared how you can check the website loading time and in this article, I will share how you can test the loading time for your mobile site. After the test, make sure you pinpoint the reasons which are slowing down your mobile site.

Test Mobile Website

If you are wondering why you need to focus on the mobile site, here is my take on the same. From past one year, my reading shifted to mobile phones and action happens on my laptop. At times, my mobile is using Wi-fi connection and many times it uses the 3G connection to browse the inteet. Many times I have closed the webpage because it takes a lot of time to load. Unlike desktop where we multi-task (Multiple tabs opened at a single time), on mobile phones, we are usually doing one action at a time. So, it is becoming essential for you to have your mobile site well optimised for loading and performance.

Here I’m sharing few websites which will check the loading time of your mobile site. This is a good starting point for you to see how your mobile site is performing. Along with this, you should also check your Google analytics report to see how much time and what’s the bounce rate of mobile readers. First, let’s have a look at the sites which offer mobile website loading time.

2 Sites to Test Mobile Website Performance & Loading Time

GTMetrix:

gtmetrix mobile speed test

GTmetrix offers testing mobile site loading on Android device. To try out this, you need to create a free account on their site and from the dashboard you can select the “Chrome, Android, Galaxy Nexus” and test your loading time. Right now, this feature is in beta test and it checks only for Android devices. Still a good starting point for you to test the performance of your mobile site.

If you don’t have a responsive or mobile design at this moment, you should atlas check the loading time of your website in slow speed (3G or 2G speed). When I checked my desktop site on 3G, it took almost 14 seconds to load.

Check out GTMetrix

Google page speed insights:

Google page speed insights for mobile

This is an official tool by Google and it doesn’t test the loading time of your mobile site, rather it is a performance testing tool. Using Google page speed insight, you will get the suggestion to improve your mobile website. It will show suggestion which is critical, need attention and things which are perfect. I realised few issues with my mobile site after using this too. You should run a test for your website and see how is the performance. This tool is mostly targeted to developers, and if you hire someone to develop your website, you can test your site performance here, and ask your developer to fix all the issues discovered by this tool.

Check out Google page speed insights

At this time, I could find only these two sites which let you test mobile site loading time and performance. I’m hoping in coming days we will see a rise in more similar tool targeted for the mobile website. For now, go ahead and test your mobile site and share your results with me via comment.

The title of your blog post plays a major role in the success of that post. It is the title, after all, which compels users to click on the blog post and read it. In addition, the title of a post plays a significant role in a post’s search engine ranking.

Because titles are so important, let’s take a look at how we might construct better titles toward optimal results.

I write one title for readers (on the blog), and then I write a different title for search engines (SEO meta title) and finally I write yet another title for social media platforms. This is a winning combination toward making sure you get maximum clicks on your posts from the various platforms.

In order to achieve optimal results, you need to have a “catchy” title for your blog post – one that inspires the reader of the title to want to click and read the article referred to in that title.

Should you need help creating titles, consider the following awesome list of title generators which can help you to create catchy, inspiring, popular blog titles based on your keywords. I suggest that you bookmark them and consider using them if you need help creating titles that will generate clicks for your posts.

There are two main things that make bloggers happy: engaged readers AND revenue from their blog.

But with the growing popularity of content marketing, there’s been a huge surge of content from various industries lately. You may find it more challenging to gain new audiences for your works as you need to compete with new players in the field. Thus, your top blog posts may not be receiving as much traffic as they used to. Not only can this feel frustrating, but it may also hamper your eaings as a blogger.

But there’s a surefire way to remedy this situation: supercharge your blog posts.

Key Tips from This Post:

  • Add optimized images
  • Add an article overview
  • Include a video introduction or summary
  • Create a podcast/audio
  • Offer FREE printable/downloadable goodies specific to your blog post topic
  • Don’t forget powerful WP plug-ins
  • Include data references
  • Have an Attention Box
  • Strategize your CTA placement
  • Incorporate keywords and keyword variations
  • Insert TL;DR slideshows
  • Improve your author bio

You’ve heard about writing comprehensive content and integrating SEO to attract traffic. But aside from these crucial components, there are other things you can do to make each post drip with exceptional quality. One of the reasons why readers often pick competitor blogs over yours is because you’re missing one or two pieces of information.

Filling in gaps in your content will help you stand out from your rivals, become an authority in your industry, AND leave target audiences needing nothing more.

Blog post hacks to Elevate Them To New Heights

1. Add optimized images.

Although it’s been said time and again, some bloggers still forget to use high-quality HD images that are optimized for maximum performance. Optimizing images mean paying attention to details such as the image filename, alteative text, description, and size. If your photos are optimized, your blog posts would be easier to crawl for search engine bots. Hence, more organic traffic. Optimized images also load faster on digital devices, making readers happy.

optimize-images-min

As much as possible, use your photos to avoid problems with copyright and to provide a personalized “feel” to your works. Remember: posts with images get 94 percent more views. So get snapping!

2. Add an article overview.

Overviews do two beautiful things: one; they notify readers of what to expect in your blog post (we just used one on for this article!); second, you can link them to exact parts of your work to help readers jump to specific sections they like.

This eliminates the problem of scanning through an entire article and becoming frustrated because it didn’t contain the information you were expecting. Linking, on the other hand, is a great way to provide convenience to people who don’t have enough time to read your blog post.

3. Include a video introduction or summary.

There’s no doubt over the popularity of videos when it comes to content. In fact, according to Cisco, 69 percent of consumer Inteet traffic by 2017 will be due to videos. If you’re not ready for this revolution, though, you can still take advantage of this trend by including a short video introduction or summary in your blog posts.

Video introductions are created for branding purposes. They are quick productions that simply feature the business name, logo, the owner or founder (optional), and the company slogan. This is great if you want to make a good first impression among new audiences. Video intros normally don’t exceed one minute in length.

Video summaries, on the other hand, are like article previews but in another form.

add-videos-min

Unlike article overviews, video summaries can sum up your entire work in just several minutes. This strategy is best utilized for long-form content, as well as to convince viewers to take action.

4. Create a podcast/audio.

According to the Podcast Consumer Report by Edison Research, people are becoming more and more aware of podcasting. In 2015, 35 percent of respondents said they listen to a podcast, with an average of six podcasts listened to in a week.

Creating your own podcast has two main benefits, aside from supercharging your already awesome blog post: one, it’s one of the easiest ways to repurpose your most popular content to reach more audiences; second, it’s a good way of eaing a backlink from iTunes or SoundCloud.

create-podcast-min

Remember to get affordable yet fine quality equipment before recording a podcast. This ensures that you won’t be compromising on the value of the content you give your blog readers.

5. Offer FREE printable/downloadable goodies specific to your blog post topic.

Who can resist something that’s FREE? Whether it’s a downloadable PDF copy of your blog post OR a printable checklist of your best blogging strategies, your readers would love to get their hands on these goodies. Offering FREE stuff would also help tu new audiences into loyal fans.

download-free-stuff-min

But don’t just generate some generic stuff that you offer on every web page. Make it distinct to the topic you’re covering for that blog post. Entrepreneur and Digital Marketer Brian Dean loves using this strategy on his blog posts. This, in tu, has helped him gaer plenty of avid readers that frequently engage with his works.

6. Don’t forget powerful WP plug-ins.

Text content will always be important in content marketing and blogging – but in today’s cutthroat digital landscape, it’s NOT enough. If bloggers want to level-up their game, they need to make sure their blog posts are cleverly integrated with other aspects of the Web, such as social media. Here’s where WordPress plugins, such as SumoMe, come in handy.

Dubbed as one of the best WP plugins for 2016, this nifty tool lets bloggers show pop-ups to grow their email list, customize contact forms, highlight blog post excerpts for quick and easy sharing on social media sites, as well as show where visitors are clicking on their heat map. Make your life – and that of your readers’ – easier by checking out SumoMe today.

7. Include data references.

While emotions play a vital role in acquiring audiences to your blog posts, including relevant data and/or research results in your work will elevate it further. Digital marketing expert Neil Patel for instance, saw an increase in engagement on his articles since he began writing data-driven posts.

Why is that? People love numbers. Yes, some folks will argue that they hate arithmetic and problem-solving, but humans in general have always been sensitive to numerical pattes. So if you want to establish yourself as an authority on certain subjects, or to give your blog post ideas more depth, add well-researched data references to keep readers on their toes.

8. Have an Attention Box.

Details matter. Even tiny things such as bold fonts or typos can be easily detected by your readers. Whether you want to capture more audiences or increase email subscribers, make sure to add details that count. One such feature is the little yellow attention box you see experts like Brian Dean and Neil Patel use for their blog posts.

yellow-attention-box-min

In one blog entry, Brian Dean shares how this yellow attention box has given him 65 percent more email subscribers than other tactics he has used. Why is that? First is the power of color: yellow has a natural psychological pull on people that tell them to sit up and pay attention. Second, Dean took advantage of “power words” to make his offer within those boxes irresistible (i.e. exclusive, improve, bonus).

9. Strategize your CTA placement.

Again: your blog shouldn’t just make readers happy – it should also make you money. That’s why it’s crucial to understand WHERE your calls to action should be placed within your blog for maximum clicks. Don’t simply subscribe to the notion of “above the fold”. It’s 2016 and times are changing. This strategy may have worked with earlier, simpler websites, but it might NOT be best for you.

blog-post-cta-min

Don’t be afraid of doing A/B testing to figure out the best placements for your CTA. Digital marketing expert Neil Patel apparently has placed several CTAs all over his blog posts and it has worked well for him. That’s because he’s using strategic CTA placement along with other tactics such as storytelling, optimized imagery, and long-form guided content. When it comes to conversion, avoid using your gut-feel or following generic standards: use your own rules!

10. Incorporate keywords and keyword variations.

It’s true that keyword stuffing and focusing solely on search terms has been outdated since 2013. However, this doesn’t mean you should do without them entirely. The right balance between keywords and quality is the best way to go for ensuring that your blog posts are both user- and search engine-friendly.

blog-post-keywords-min

This begins with good keyword research. Use trusted tools such as Semrush or Google’s Keyword Planner to gather the best ideas. Then, pepper them on strategic places within your content. In general, your main keyword should be in your blog post title and sub-headings. Next, sprinkle longer keyword variations throughout your work. Recommended areas are: on the first paragraph, in the content body, and on final paragraph.

11. Insert TL;DR slideshows.

Long-form content is no doubt effective in many ways. It gives you several chances to insert valuable keywords within your blog post; it showcases your expertise on the subject, plus it’s great for social shares. But not every reader has the time to even scan your work. Sometimes, they don’t want to download your free goodies either. How do you deal with these types of audiences? Show you care about their time by summarizing your article into a TL;DR slideshow.

blog-post-slideshow-min

TL;DR, which stands for “too long, didn’t read” has been on the Web for quite a while, but is becoming widely-used by authors to appropriately introduce long compositions. Slideshows make for great TL;DR because readers can view content at their own pace. Plus, you can still insert relevant links (i.e. to your blog post and/or social media profiles). Services like Slideshare, is a good platform to begin crafting your slideshows today.

12. Improve your author bio.

Think that something as small as an author bio can’t supercharge your blog posts? Think again. Writer and founder of Ride the Pen, Alex Limberg, believe otherwise. In an article for Write to Done, he shares simple tricks to improve your author bio AND thereby gain more readers.

By tweaking your bio to contain three key aspects (who you are, what you do, why should they read your blog) in only a few sentences, you make it easy for both people and search engines to find you. As you don’t want to bore anyone with irrelevant information, make each word count.

author-bio-samples-min

Conclusion

A vital tip: NEVER use everything at once!

Pick two or three tricks that would work well with your blog post, based on your chosen topic and target audience. For instance, if you wrote a piece on “101 ways to stay fit during weekdays”, you can supercharge it by incorporating a FREE downloadable guide in an attention box along with a short video summary. Coupled with an optimized bio and valuable keywords, your blog posts are sure to become a hit!

When you’ve been blogging for a while, you may come to a point when you’re looking for other ways to tell your story or share your ideas. If you’ve already tried several ways of sharing content beyond written words, then a podcast might just be your next best move.

So why start a podcast? It’s really quite simple. A podcast is a way to reach an audience that you wouldn’t reach otherwise with just your blog. There is an increasing number of people who listen to podcasts more than they read blogs. In a recent report, 33% of Americans have listened to at least one podcast.¹ That’s a huge number of people listening to content in podcast form. Don’t you want in on all the potential traffic it could bring to your blog?

While a podcast is a great way to bring new readers to your blog, it’s not the only reason you should start one. In addition to new followers, you connect with your audience on a more personal level. Hearing someone speak is, no doubt, more personal than reading words on a screen. With this kind of connection, you can gain your listener’s trust and get their attention in lesser time than it takes to read a blog post.

If you’re comfortable with talking to get your ideas across, and you’re not scared of a little technical adventure, then you’re more than ready to start your own podcast. Here are 10 tips to help you through the process.

10 things you should know before launching your first podcast:

1. Plan your content

1-plan content

A well-planned podcast will make your podcasting routine easier. Decide how many episodes you want to publish in a month, which topics you want to cover (and in what order), when you plan to release a new episode, and so on. Just like a blog, a podcast needs a content calendar so you have a clear idea of what you need to accomplish for each episode.

List down potential episode titles and schedule to publish them in a logical order. For instance, an episode with the title “How To Choose A Web Host” should come first before “How To Set Up WordPress”. You can also have a theme or single general topic and break it down into sub-topics within a given time frame. For instance, you can assign April as “SEO month”, so all your episodes will be about SEO for that month.

When you have a clear content plan for your podcast, you don’t have to worry about coming up with a topic for your next episode. All you need to focus on is creating and recording the content.

2. Invest in a quality microphone

2-mic

I made the mistake of buying a cheap microphone and ended up having to edit my recording heavily to compensate for poor audio quality. If you have the budget, or you can wait a little longer to have enough money to buy a quality microphone, I suggest you do so. If you want to know more about the best microphones for podcasting, online entrepreneur and podcast expert Pat Flynn has this excellent video.

Of course, you can research other mics that are available in your area. Having the best possible recording equipment will save you loads of time and trouble when it’s time to edit your audio. Here are recommended Microphone for Podcasting:

Blue Yeti mic:

Blue Yeti mic

Do buy Pop-filter along with it. It filters P’s Or T’s

3. Get a professionally made podcast cover image & Intro

3-cover

Unless you’re a graphic designer, I suggest having your podcast cover image made by a professional. You can ask around for the best designers in your area, or you can hit up Fiverr and get a custom graphic made starting at $5. Choose a designer whose graphic style you like and matches with you personal brand. Have a clear idea of how you want your image to be, and take your time to give clear instructions and even an image sketch for good measure. Take note that your podcast cover image will appear as a thumbnail image on most podcast streaming services, so go for a design that still stands out even when it’s small.

You should also hire someone on Fiverr for creating your podcast intro & outro. Here is an example of professional podcast intro:

4. Follow an outline

The dangers of recording a podcast without an outline is that you’ll go off-topic and find yourself rambling on about something else entirely. Just like a blog post, a podcast should have an introduction, body and conclusion. You don’t have to write a script that you read word-for-word, but just a bullet point list of what you’ll talk about and in what order. In case you go off-track, you can always pause and refer to your outline to circle back to your topic. While talking about something else for a few minutes can add personality to your podcast, you need to know when to bring your show back to delivering the subject matter at hand.

5. Get personal

One of the benefits of a podcast is connecting with your audience on a deeper, more personal level. Podcasts are great for telling personal stories that relate to the episode’s topic. Don’t be afraid to show your vulnerable side — it makes you more relatable as a human being and people will definitely trust you to be an honest podcaster. If you’re giving advice about how to do a certain task, talk about how you leaed to do this task effectively and whether you had challenges along the way.

6. Get a dedicated podcasting web host

libsyn

Once your podcast is live, it has the potential of being streamed by thousands of listeners. When this happens, it’s important that your podcast file host can handle the bandwidth. Rather than using your website’s server to load your audio files, use a service like LibSyn or Blubrry for a better and secure podcast hosting option. These services require a minimal amount for a monthly subscription, but it’s definitely worth it. Integrating your podcast episodes to your blog is also easy with LibSyn and Blubrry plugins for WordPress.

7. Promote your blog or landing page in the podcast

Don’t forget to mention your blog at least twice during a podcast. This lets your audience know where to find you outside of your podcast. You can also direct your audiences to a specific page on your blog to find certain information like how to contact you and/or a landing page that sells your products or services. Make sure the links you give are short and easy to remember.

8. Ask your listeners to subscribe and leave a review

iTunes podcasts new & noteworthy

In iTunes, podcasts appear in the “New and Noteworthy” section when they’ve gotten lots of good reviews. Before the end of each podcast episode, always tell your readers to subscribe and leave a review if they liked the episode. You can also include a link on your blog below your podcast player, so your blog readers can subscribe and leave a review as well. Here’s a detailed tutorial on how to display the link that goes directly to iTunes for leaving reviews on your podcast.

9. Lea basic audio editing

acoustica

You can hire someone to edit your audio files for you or you can do it yourself. Leaing audio editing can take a while, but it’s worth it if you want total control of how your finished recording sounds. A free audio editing tool called Audacity works great, but if you want to get more advanced, you can check out Acoustica or Sound Forge Pro. These tools allow you to edit, enhance and compress your audio files so it has the best possible quality when streamed online.

10. Be yourself

It may seem obvious, but when you’re talking to a mic for the first time, it’s easy to get self-conscious and not sound like yourself. You don’t have to edit out every “uhm” and “ahh” in the sound file. This makes you sound more human and less like a robot. Smile, laugh, be intense if you must. Don’t hide your accent if you have one. Be yourself and enjoy the process of getting your message out there. Soon enough, you’ll have a group of followers who can’t wait for your next episode.

Are you planning to launch your podcast? Do let me know what it is going to be about? Share your launch plan so that we can lea & share our views too. Have a question? Feel free to ask in the comment section below.

From Mr. Anonymous:

I’m not a religious person yet I respect all the religions. I like the fact that it gives a purpose to a community to stick around. At the same time, I don’t like them because a majority of them divide people based on their religion, color, ethnic or for any other reasons possible. I believe the real religion is this truth:

  • Every moing sun will rise
  • Every night moon will shine.

This is a universal truth that doesn’t change for any religion, ethnic or any other reason. You might be thinking why you should know this & how I know all this. It’s because, at one point of my life, I was struggling with living life. For long, I felt like I’m caged & doing things just because somebody else wanted me to be. I’m not radical rather I’m the guy who

I’m not radical rather I’m the guy who sits at the first bench & score the best grades in exams. I was doing good in my life after graduation & my business + money was growing. Even though I was at the stage where I had everything, I was not happy.

I realized that life is not all about working, making money & be a part of the race. This is where I get to know about Spirituality ( Something that I always thought of unreal bullshit) & let me tell you the honest truth: When I used to hear the word spirituality, I used to think: It’s the person who left everyone & living a life of Sanyasi. I thought people who were spiritual, are the one who have given up on this materialistic world. (I was very wrong…)

When I was researching about spirituality, I was shocked to know that most of the great leaders like Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam was spiritual. With my utmost fear & doubt, I started leaing more about it & after knowing the reality of life; my life has changed completely. From an anxious, angry, self-centered guy; I become a person who emphasizes with all the pain, leaed to leave in now & lost all my anxiety. It was magical feeling, as I thought the anxiety & tension is part of my complete lifespan. I was wrong when I discovered the truth & realized we can shape our life in any way we want.

As a guest here at ShoutMeLoud, I will keep this part short as the truth of life is better experienced.

The end:

Mr. Anonymous (Until next time)

Books have always been influential in my life and that is the case with millions of people worldwide. While there are hundreds of amazing books written on the lines of Spiritual awakening, choosing a few among those is a daunting task. There is a lot of knowledge out in the world and in this information age, we are more conceed with daily nuances than gaining actual knowledge. Even highly successful entrepreneurs like Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Ellison, and Bill Gates always make sure that they find the time to read daily. While reading novels and scientific non-fiction books are a great way to build upon your knowledge, life is also about finding yourself.

This is where Spiritual awakening books come into play and help you find your purpose in life.

What is Spiritual Awakening and Why does it Matter?

There is a Japenese concept of a “Reason for being” called as ‘Ikigai‘. Finding one’s purpose in life and self-realization has been defined by Ikigai and has been accounted for bringing satisfaction and peace into people’s lives. Spiritual awakening is not about your religion but is more about your self-being and the realization of what one dreams or hopes of. Ikigai is often related to as ‘bringing a reason to get up in the moing’. Finding your true purpose of life and how to deal with life’s troublesome situations is what Spiritual awakening encompasses.

In a world that gets more and more materialistic, there is never an end to desires and often lands people in dissatisfaction. As Gautama Buddha would put it, “Attachment is the root of suffering“. Getting too attached to the materialistic world has led people into disappointments and is something that one ought to be aware of. Realization of one’s expectations and capabilities is inevitable and spiritual awakening is all about it. Self-awareness is an essential aspect of a healthy and a happy living. One of the major sources of such deep knowledge on Spiritual Awakening is encompassed in literature, both of the ancient and the contemporary times.

7 Must-Read Books for Spiritual Awakening

Now that you have decided to read some of the best spiritual awakening books, I will try to list out here some of the must-read books in the genre. Below is the list of the 7 must-read books for spiritual awakening.

The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment by Eckhart Tolle

The power of now

Eckhart Tolle is one of the most popular spiritual authors in the present day and his ‘The Power of Now” stands testimony to that. Living in the ‘Now’ takes a lot of practice and it is much easier to get anxious about the future or lamenting about the past. People fail to realize that the actions we take now matter the most and not how analytical we get about our past or the future. If you are looking forward to a read which will allow you to inspect the meaning of living in the here and now, The Power of Now is an amazing read.

Eckhart Tolle talks a lot about the Chinese concept of mastering one’s Chi (ch’i) or ‘Energy flow’. The cycle of life and how enlightened relationships make a part of it are some of the few topics that are covered by Eckhart Tolle in this spiritual guide. Read this book to help you master the art of shutting down noises in your head and focus better on the task at hand. Drifting into the unconscious being or what we call as procrastination is a serious threat to your present now and this makes it a must-read for anyone with this issue. This book encompasses deep philosophies, all of which requires years of practice and not mere hours of reading.

The Surrender Experiment: My Jouey into Life’s Perfection by Michael A. Singer

The Surrender Experiment

Life’s beauty is in its imperfections rather than its perfections. We all have this image of our lives in our mind and the way it is supposed to unfold. As William Shakespeare would put it:

Following your passions relentlessly in life and then letting life choose the consequences for you is the main gist of this amazing book. To with the flow of life and to completely experience whatever life has to offer you has been brilliantly put in this book.

Once you are willing to let go of yourself, life becomes your friend, your teacher, your secret lover. When life’s way becomes your way, all the noise stops, and there is great peace.

― Mickey A. Singer

We often fail to realize that we do not possess complete control of our lives or situations around us. Fretting over these issues more only leads to discomfort and dissatisfaction in life.

Sometimes, life is all about surrendering yourself completely to whatever life has to give you. This has to go without saying that it matters that you put in your maximum efforts into the realization of your dreams.

Stillness Speaks by Eckhart Tolle

Stillness Speaks

Stillness and silence are the virtues which are often related to introverted-ness or shyness. People fail to realize that these very characteristics are the ones that have found out to be peculiar to the creative types. People like Bill Gates, J. K. Rowling, Mahatma Gandhi and Albert Einstein are/were introverts themselves and it is their virtues of silence and stillness that helped them the most. Although people assume that being at the forefront of everything is how you succeed, it is through the ability to put our thinking mind to the action that we succeed in our relationships and in life.

True intelligence operates silently. Stillness is where creativity and solutions to problems are found.

― Eckhart Tolle

The profounds of life and its happenings could only be understood through concentration and focus that is brought about by our ability to keep our mind still and embracing silence. Meditation and the Art of focus concentrate primarily on stopping, reflecting and repeating. Soothing one’s ego is essential for letting go of negativity in oneself and mastering the art of silence and stillness would help it by leaps and bounds. Another masterpiece by Eckhart Tolle, this is one must-read book if you’re unable to stay focused and get drowned in the noise around you.

Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda

Autobiography-of-a-Yogi

Paramahansa Yogananda was one of the most inspirational spiritual people of the recent times and his works have left a serious impact on the world. The Autobiography of a Yogi is a chronicle narration of the life of the man himself. His encounters with saints and sages, childhood experiences, and a search for an enlightened teacher encompasses this amazing book. This book tries to explore and explain the miracles of life and human existence.

Live quietly in the moment and see the beauty of all before you. The future will take care of itself.

― Paramahansa Yogananda

Being translated into over 20 languages, the Autobiography of a Yogi is one of the classic telltale spiritual stories of the mode day. Drawing analogies with the Upanishads, mode Hindu literature, and Vedic interpretations of the Bible, this is one of the must-read books for invoking a spiritual awakening.

Be Here Now by Ram Dass, Richard Alpert

Ram Dass - Be here now

This is one of my most favorite spiritual books of all time. As Ram Dass puts it, “Cosmic humor, especially about your own predicament, is an important part of your jouey“. This is one of the best spiritual books with a sense of humor to its side. This book is more about a man’s transformation into the spiritual side of human nature by acceptance of the principles of Yoga.

Just because you are seeing divine light, experiencing waves of bliss, or conversing with Gods and Goddesses is no reason to not know your zip code.

― Ram Dass

This book has been credited with the root of spiritual inspiration for Steve Jobs and his close friend Daniel Kottke and his travels to India.

Along with The Autobiography of a Yogi, this book inspired Steve Jobs to travel India and seek his spiritual center. This book takes a completely non-traditional approach to spiritual writing, albeit an intentional one. This book has also been credited with the cause of many people taking up the study of psychology and religion a few decades earlier.

Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu

Tao Te Ching

This is one of the classic masterpieces on the subject matter of spiritual awakening. Again, one of my most favorite spiritual reads given the extent of subject matter put forth in this amazing book. Written sometime around in the 6th Century B.C., Lao Tzu was an ancient Chinese philosopher and writer credited with the invention of a religious Chinese philosophy of Taoism. This book has been translated numerous time but the one for which the link has been provided captures most of the essence of this epic masterpiece.

A man with outward courage dares to die; a man with inner courage dares to live.”

― Lao Tzu

Describing the universe, the flow from being to non-being, mastering our inner yin and yang, and the philosophy of ‘action with inaction’ are some of the key concepts tackled throughout in this spectacular spiritual book. Lao Tzu was one of the most-read poets in the world and many of his thoughts and philosophies are presented in the form of short poems throughout this book.

Tip:

When you are in the jouey of Spirituality, you going to hear great stories & people finding the meaning of life. One thing which you should always know is; the world is inside you. Here are few more books which you should read once you have started understanding the basics:

  • Living with the Himalayan Masters (if you have read the “Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda,” this is a good sequel to it. Even though I would say not to believe anything which is said until you experience it, but it’s good to know the possibilities.)

So, as we come to the end of this list of the best books to read for spiritual awakening, which of these have you read? Did you feel any of your favorite spiritual book went unmentioned? Feel free to shout out your thoughts and Idea below.

Simplicity, clarity, singleness: These are the attributes that give our lives power and vividness and joy as they are also the marks of great art. They seem to be the purpose of God for his whole creation.” Richard Holloway

If you have errors, then you don’t need to change anything, you need to change is your thoughts and perception only. Just love simplifying your life. It makes you more active and less stressful life. It makes you calmer and happier.

Tu bad day into Good

19 Thought Provoking tips to tu your bad day into Great:

  1. Take in the air: When depressed, indulge in a problem or the past or future in your sub-conscious mind, take a long breathe with your gut for a while and just emphasize on the breath going in and out. By doing like this, will make you calm your body down and you can be livelier in the present moment.
  2. Never go for multiple things at a time: You will feel better if you have better results of your work. So, opt for one thing at a time. This goes for your offline & online life. Be present in the moment (Now) & you would notice how beautiful your life is. Usually, thoughts from the past or worry about future gives us anxiety & take our attention from what is in front of us. Always remember, you can’t change your past & you can’t control your future. All you have is now!
  3. Jot it all down: Utilise your space in mind for other things than memorising what to do. And the brain is usually like a leaky pitcher. So jot down all your great concepts, visions and thoughts before they go disappeared somewhere. This is also useful when you are working on something & you get new ideas or remember things to do, just note it down. I prefer using Eveote or Wunderlist to do the same.
  4. Don’t like, don’t do: Life makes constant changes. If you are not enjoying doing something anymore, just get the kick off that work.
  5. Stop being an entertainer: Stop trying to delight everyone. There will always be some persons around you that do not like you for some reason.People attitude
  6. No one can be perfect: As a substitute, go for a good enough. Allow things to be done this way and then move ahead to the next task.
  7. Prepare your bag for tomorrow: Pack your bag before sleeping. Then you don’t have to get worried about that in the moing and chances to forget something will be lessened.
  8. Just get rid of the things you haven’t used: Have a look at your things and question yourself, either these have been used in the past one year or can be used in the future. If not, throw out or give it away to charity. Living a minimalistic life can do wonders for you. Don’t believe me? Check out the video I shared at the end.
  9. Simplifying queries by asking yourself: Questions like “Who is the most important person in your life?” and “What can you do to tackle the present situation?”
  10. Everything should be in ordered way: If there is haphazard at your place then it becomes tacky to keep your home ordered and remove unnecessary things. This will help you to provide inner stability as outer atmosphere affects your inner soul.
  11. Make yourself busy in doing household work: We usually make limited servings of what we are about to eat. This reduces the time that you devote to cooking and you’ll have to do less work of cleaning up dishware in general. Apart from this, it’s good to have that part of the food to carry along with you at workplaces to save some bucks.
  12. Guessing is a tough task: Reading brains are hard. So, as an alteative ask questions and talk. This will help you to lessen conflicts, misunderstandings, negativity and waste of time and energy.
  13. The workspace should be compact: There are no distractions here. Just me, the computer and the water. There should be no distractions around your workplace. Just you, your equipment and the water.
  14. Review your things daily: Check everything just once a day. Check your email inboxes, blog statistics, online eaings, Twitter and Facebook just once a day and associate all these checking into a small daily custom at the end of your work day. Check out Time management tips & ideas for making To-Do list.
  15. Be kind-hearted: Pick small daily deeds of kindness. Instead of doing unnecessary judgment and condemnation towards the individuals around you and towards yourself.
  16. To exaggerate an insignificant matter out of all fractions: Don’t make mountains out of molehills. Stop thinking too much about something and constructing it up something big in your head.
  17. Plan out your week: Utilize sometime on Monday moing to organise your week. Compose your plans for the week, organize your selected to-do list and get ready for the week. This will help you to have more transparency and minimise stress.
  18. Eradicate complicated people: Occupied yourself with those people that help you to keep things simple and people that make you involve into overcomplicating things and producing drama, just ignore them. Here are 7 types of toxic people you should not keep in your life.
  19. Performing meditation nurture mindfulness: We are all conscious about the benefits of physical exercise, which improved fitness, stress release, and an increased life expectancy, but we ignore the exercise we can do to our brain. In the short-term, meditation relaxes us. In the longer-term, it supports mindfulness, lifts our concentration levels and listening skills, helps us to cope up with stress, and simplifies our thought process, raising better decision-making and leadership skills.
